CODE COMPLIANCE ELECTRONIC PLAN REVIEW

Bureau Veritas is proud to announce Electronic Plan Review is now available for all Building Departments

Building Departments across America are being asked with increasing frequency if they can provide electronic plan review for larger projects.  Many departments cannot yet provide this service and still must require that hard copies of plans be submitted to allow for proper review and process tracking. 

BV can provide this capability to our client jurisdictions.  Let us show you how we have joined new technology with time proven processes.  Our experienced team of plan review professionals has mastered this technology, thus allowing us to provide our clients with a turn key solution to mounds of paper and expensive shipping rates.

The process is simple and clean

1. Once we have a contract with a jurisdiction, they can, at any time, allow their applicants to submit their plans in electronic PDF format directly to our FTP site.  Our site is secure and allows us to track each project submittal down to the individual sheet and revision level. 


2. Our ICC certified plan review engineers and architects then review these PDF drawings on our high definition monitors and mark the comments directly onto the PDF drawing files. 



3. Once the review is completed, we then place our reviewed copy onto our FTP site and send the applicant (and our client) an email indicating the first review is complete.  They can then easily download the marked up PDF. 




4. The applicant can now make the revisions to their plans and resubmit via the FTP site. 




5. We perform our final review (assuming all corrections have been made) and post the final review set onto our FTP site.  Again, emails are sent to the applicants and the building department, but this time the files bear our secure approval stamps. 




6. Once we have approved the drawings, the building department can accept full size hard copies of the drawings directly from the applicant that match the set we reviewed.  These full size versions can be printed from our digitally signed approval sets so that you are confident that no additional changes have been made. 




7. The rest of the process will continue per your normal procedures. 

The advantages of electronic plan review include:
Time Savings in the Plan Review Cycle. 

By allowing for electronic submittals, the time it takes to ship the drawings to jurisdictions and to us is reduced.  For a typical large project, the time saved by eliminating shipping and plotting time can be as much as 10 days.

Increased Clarity of Review Comments. 

By putting our comments right on the drawing we eliminate confusion caused by comments that are not properly referenced back to a specific location on the plans. 

During the review of the plans, we now have the capability to have a phone call with the applicant to discuss any questions or comments they might have about our review comments.  This conversation is enhanced by our ability to be looking at their drawings on our monitors interactively with the applicant.

“Time is Money” is a true axiom.  We save costs on shipping, plotting and the carrying cost of money on the overall project as we speed up the overall timeline.
